Free Golfing Stuff: Course Handicap Welcome to Free Golfing Stuff. Here we will give you free advice on how to improve your game. First let's talk about equitable stroke control.

Equitable Stroke Control

Equitable stroke control is put in place to eliminate disaster holes, which comes as good news to all, I would hope. It also serves the purpose of eliminating sandbaggers, or golfers who intentionally blow up on a hole to raise their handicap. The way equitable stroke control works is quite simple; it puts a stroke limit on each hole you play, based on your handicap. To help you determine your equitable stroke control, you must not only know your course handicap, but you must follow the chart above.

If you have yet to establish your handicap index, you must use the maximum allowable handicap index, which is 36.4 for men and 40.4 for women, and then figure out your course handicap. Then, apply that course handicap to determine your equitable stroke control per-hole limits.
